Ivy Paulo

Movement came first.

I’ve always been drawn to the way people move through a space. The tilt of a shoulder, the rhythm of a stride, the shift in energy when someone feels fully at ease in themselves. I notice these things instinctively. They’re often the smallest details, but they can completely change the feeling of an image.

My background is in fashion. I studied styling, communication and creative direction before eventually stepping in front of the camera as a model. Years spent inside the frame gave me a deeper understanding of image-making from the inside out. Over time, I became just as interested in what was happening around the image as I was in being part of it.

Today, my work moves between movement direction, art direction, content, modelling and, sometimes, set design when an idea calls for its own world. Whatever the medium, I’m interested in translating feeling into form. Taking something imagined and finding a way to make it real. I like making dreaming feel practical.

Born in South Africa, raised in Angola, shaped by ten years in London, now based in Lisbon.
